What is a Maremma Dog?

A Maremma dog also known as Maremma Sheepdog is a Livestock Guardian Dog ideally suited to farms where they can look after animals.

Maremmas are very devoted to their guarding job, so they would fit best in a farm setting where they can look after livestock.

Maremmas have been bred to be independent thinkers and confident protectors.

Their large size and free spirit also require a lot of outdoor space to roam with fencing to keep them from going too far.

If these dogs are socialized at a young age, they can become good family dogs, while still needing lots of space.

They will get along well with other dogs if socialized from a puppy in their own human family, but not with strangers or anyone with whom they’re not familiar, making them well suited as watchdogs too.

This breed often prefers to  make decisions on their own, having greater autonomy then some other dogs breeds.

They usually have very sharp senses and remarkable instincts when it comes to protecting their territory and resources.
